Vladimir Putin Spoke About The Role Of Trade Unions

Russian President Vladimir Putin called upon the trade unions to take "an active part in reviving the system of Russian vocational training." He said this on Wednesday, addressing the trade union congress in Moscow. The head of the state noted that "the business structure is now seriously reviving" professional education. The President believes that the trade unions, too, should "take steps in this direction." Apart from that, underscored Vladimir Putin, the trade unions will have to resolve the problems which arise in connection with the pension reform and the modernisation of the system of medical and social insurance. "In this sphere we should jointly find a balance of interests between the employees and the employers," said the President. Another important task for the trade unions, according to him, "is to analyse the present processes of the economic migration and the inter-state labour market." This problem has arisen because people from the former Soviet republics and other foreign countries now work in Russia. In conclusion, the President pointed out that he hoped "very much that the Russian trade unions will render a real assistance in accomplishing strategic national tasks."
