Will the "Nord-Ost" musical receive government support?

The Speaker of the upper chamber of the RF Parliament Sergei Mironov announced that the Federation Council would try all ways to make sure that the "Nord-Ost" musical receives government support.

"I've already instructed various committees of the Federation Council to discuss all possible measures supporting the producers of the musical," he said.

According to Mironov, "the 'Nord-Ost' deserves all kinds of support". "It's an authentically patriotic theatrical production that has an enormous importance in educating the Russian youth, a new generation of Russian citizens. I don't know any other production that has as much emotional power," he underlined.

The general producer and one of the authors of the "Nord-Ost", the well-known Russian bard Georgy Vasilyev appealed to the Russian government and sponsors to revive the performance.

"On the one hand, "Nord-Ost" became the symbol of Russia, but on the other hand, it doesn't exist anymore," stated Vasilyev in the interview with RIA Novosti. "We are bankrupts, and without the help from the state and from the sponsors will never be able to perform again."

Vasilyev was one of the hostages captured by the terrorists on October 23 in the Theater Center on Dubrovka. The last performance of the "Nord-Ost" in the building was interrupted on Wednesday, October 23, in the beginning of the second act, when a group of terrorists stormed the stage firing automatic weapons in the air and announced that all people in the audience and all the performers were taken hostage.

As a result of a special forces hostage rescue operation on Saturday, October 26, morning, 750 people were rescued. 117 people died and 50 terrorists were eliminated.
