The All-Russia population census to be held on October 9-16 this year will help to settle migration problems. This opinion was expressed by Vladimir Zorin, Russian Minister for National Policy Problems.
According to him, it is, above all, necessary for citizens and people living on Russia's territory to take part in the census, for it will enable the state to take their interests into consideration." The population census will make it possible to receive detailed information on the size of the population, which is not fully known today, said Zorin.
Vladimir Zorin stressed that illegal migrants should not fear to take part in the census. On the contrary, "what they will tell will provide information on the most exact number of illegal migrants and will help the state, the bodies of executive power and local self-administration to correctly plan their work," noted the minister.
The population census will not be used for taking repressive steps against immigrants, said the minister. Its guarantee is that the census will be carried out anonymously, he stressed.
