Russian President Calls For Consensus In Passing Agricultural Land Ownership Legislation

Russia will aim at consensus in making decisions on the agricultural land ownership legislation, said Russian President Vladimir Putin answering to questions of businessmen at the World Economic Forum in Moscow. According to the head of the Russian state, interests of those working on land will be the main factor in making the final decision on the issue. Mr. Putin stressed that Russia "intends to involve in discussions all concerned," both those who want future liberal reforms in land legislation and who oppose the idea. "We should have tangible figures that will show what we plan to do and how it will influence the people who work on land," the president stated. "It will be a complicated process," but the only one possible, he added. "In the future we will continue to think on how to make market economy work in this sector of the Russian economy without inflicting major damage," the president highlighted.
