"Slavic crown" festival of dramatic art in Moscow

Moscow is hosting an annual international festival of dramatic art called Slavyansky Venets, or the Slavic Crown.

On Tuesday, according to the words of the famous Russian film director Gera Fedorchenko, theatergoers have a chance to see "The Lady with the Lapdog" as staged by a troupe from Lvov. The play will be in Ukrainian. Other than that, there will be performances staged by theaters from Slovenia, Czechia, Belarus and Macedonia.

The festival ends on June 10 with "Proposing in Goncharovka," a play staged by the host of the event, Moscow's Perovskaya Street Theater.

According to Fedorchenko, the current event is the eleventh of a series of international festivals of the same name. It gathers not only Slavic theaters but also troupes from other foreign theaters that stage Russian classic plays.
