Photo exhibition from history of new Russia opens in US

The Speaker of the Russian Federation Council, Sergei Mironov, on Tuesday opened a photo exhibition which is devoted to the history of new Russia. Displayed in the Library of the US Congress in Washington, it presents more than fifty photographs taken by correspondents of The Moscow Times showing the most important events of the last decade in Russia.

As the director of the Library, James Billington, put it, the displayed photographs are a bright example of photo journalism today.

The Speaker of the Russian Upper House presented a certificate of honor of the Russian Federation Council to James Billington for his personal contribution to the development of relations between the parliaments of the two countries.

More than 250 representatives of the American political, business and cultural elite were invited to the opening of the exhibition.
