World opera star Kiri Te Kanawa will sing at the closing ceremony of the first concert season in the Moscow International Music House. She will perform foreign classic masterpieces to the accompaniment of the Russian national philharmonic orchestra.
"I would like to meet the Russian audience and see the country where I have never been before," the singer told a press conference in Moscow. According to Kiri Te Kanawa, she thinks only about her work and rehearsals.
The opera star was born in New Zealand. She performed in Covent Garden, Paris Opera, Metropolitan Opera and other famous theaters. In 1982 Kiri Te Kanawa was decorated with the Order of the British Empire. On June 1, 2002 she participated in the gala concert in Buckingham Palace in honor of the 50th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's ascension to the throne.
Maestro Julian Reynolds will conduct the orchestra in Moscow. He is well known in Russia. In 1991-1995 he was a visiting conductor in the Mariinsky Theater.
