LiMo Foundation accepts new members

LiMo Foundation, an alliance formed to co-develop mobile platform based Linux operating system, unveiled the first handsets and revealed nine new members. Among them there are Orange, Paris-based mobile network operator, and Access Co, Tokyo-based mobile software provider.

Orange will be included as a Founder member and Access as a Core member (Access will also have a seat on the LiMo foundation board). For now the total number of members is 32.

The Founder Members are: Motorola, NEC, NTT DoCoMo, Panasonic, Samsung and Vodafone.

The Foundation also announced AMD, FueTrek, Open-Plug, Renesas Technology, Samsung SDS, SoftBank and STMicroelectronics as members.

The new members are companies with proven technologies and large, sophisticated customer bases that will bolster LiMo as a global Linux-based platform - a consistent, open source-based software platform that will benefit the entire mobile industry.
