A case of contracted Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) has raised concerns among researchers in Germany.
A woman was reported to have deep abscesses as a result of the infection spreading in her body. Her husband and two children showed the symptoms but they are no longer in danger due to timely treatment.
The Bavarian Food and Health Safety Authority assumed that the possible carrier could have been a pet (a human can also be a carrier, but it happens very rarely). Woman’s three cats were thoroughly examined and one was defined to have the same strain.
The cat was treated with antibiotics and as a result the woman’s abscesses diappeared.
Now the cat is registered in the list of possible carriers along with the dog.
