St.Petersburg to host Yelena Obraztsova's young opera singers contest

On Tuesday St.Petersburg will host the opening of the Yelena Obraztsova 3rd International contest of young opera singers, RIA Novosti learned in the city administration's culture committee.

Opera singers from various countries aged 18-30 will take part in the contest. The winner will receive a Grand Prix of $10,000.

The talent of the participants will be appraised by the jury headed by Yelena Obraztsova and comprising Fedora Barbieri, Ileana Cotrubas, Renata Scotto, Larisa Gergiyeva and other famous singers.

The opera celebrities will not only give their marks to the young participants, but will also hold master classes. Moreover, Yelena Obraztsova will give a concert devoted to the 40th anniversary of her stage career.

The contest will end with the laureates' gala concert on August 30th.
