Sholokhov's Spring festival opens in the birthplace of the author of the Quiet Don

Over 50,000 guests are expected to attend the literature and folklore festival "Sholokhov's Spring," which is opening this Friday in the Cossack Village of Veshenskaya, the birthplace of Nobel Prize Winner (Literature) Mikhail Sholokhov.

As the press service of the Rostov Region administration reports, this year the festival's literary part will be devoted to Sholokhov's war prose.

During the festival the collection of cars, which Sholokhov used in his lifetime, will be showed for the first time. The press service explained that the cars had been repurchased from private collectors by the Veshenskaya museum.

Also, the guests will see an exhibition of the personal guns of the writer, who was a true fisherman and hunter.

The festival is traditionally held on the last days of May, when sites are organized throughout the Cossack Village for the performances of Cossack groups and literary readings.

The Trump administration is looking for a replacement for the American military contingent in the north of Syria. If the United States agrees with Saudi Arabia, the situation in the south of the country will become a lot more intense as Iran and Israel stand on the brink of war
