Experts warn of dangerous toys

U.S. Public Interest Group (PIRG) issued its the 20th Annual Toy Safety Survey released yesterday. In 2004, according to its figures, 16 children died from toy-related injuries, and of the 210,000 people who sought treatment in hospital emergency rooms for toy-related injuries, 75 percent were younger than 15.

"Even one toy-related death is too many, because these deaths are preventable," said Sarah Lee, MASSPIRG organizer. "Manufacturers do have alternatives."

Even after 20 years of detailing hazards in &to=http://english.pravda.ru/culture/2003/01/17/42175.html' target=_blank>toys, the study again found toys claiming to be free of toxins that contain toxic chemicals, and toys that can block airways if swallowed, yet lack choking hazard warnings, reports Berkshire Eagle.
