Former USSR Ambassador to the US Publishes Memoirs

Memoirs of famous diplomat Yury Duninin who was ambassador of the USSR to the US in the late 1980s have been published in Moscow.

The book, The Time of Changes, tells about the key moments in relations between the USSR and the US in the transition from confrontation to constructive dialogue, from the Cold War to the easing of tension. Yury Dubinin describes his meetings with presidents Ronald Reagan and George Bush, Sr., and with Colin Powell, who then held the post of the president's national security advisor.

The book depicts "the technology of protection of national interests," said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Alexei Meshkov, who attended the presentation of the book. "Yury Dubinin's memoirs will be of interest to those, who closely follow international politics, to new-generation diplomats first of all," he stressed.

Mikhail Perov, the publisher and editor-in-chief of the book, said in his turn that "the memoirs are valuable because they contain unique documents and facts which have never been published before."
