Head of Russian Royal Family visiting Nizhny Novgorod

Countess Maria Romanova, the head of the Russian Royal Family, is to take part in celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the canonisation of Serafim Sarovsky. She arrived in Nizhny Novgorod yesterday. Today, the countess is meeting the leadership of Nizhny Novgorod and the surrounding region, representatives of the Nizhny Novgorod diocese and the president's representative for the Volga District.

The Nizhny Novgorod Governor's press office said that tomorrow the countess will take part in prayers and a religious procession. She will also open an Orthodox exhibition devoted to Serafim Sarovsky before traveling to the village of Direevo on July 30 and August 1 to take part in more celebratory events.

Countess Maria Romanova is the head of the Russian Royal Family. She was born in Madrid in 1953 and is the only child of Count Vladimir Romanov, who headed the Romanov family in exile.
