Want to get health insurance benefits, enter into marriage

According to Kaiser Family Foundation’s latest poll, 7 percent of U.S. residents decided to get married in the last year in order either to have access to health insurance benefits or to give their new spouse access.

It turned out that employers offer more health insurance benefits to married couples but not unhitched cohabiting ones.

Does it mean that words: “in sickness and in health” have acquired practical use? Judge by the typical family health plan that costs $12,000-up a year.

For 28% of respondents paying for healthcare or health insurance was a serious problem. It means that this issue moves aside such problems as mortgage, credit or gas payments and takes the top place among major economic problems.

The telephone survey was conducted in April among 2,003 adults.

Kaiser Family Foundation is a U.S.-based non-profit, private operating foundation headquartered in Menlo Park, California. Its focuses on the major health care issues facing the nation, with a growing role in global health. The Foundation is an independent voice and source of facts and analysis for policymakers, the media, the health care community, and the general public.

Unlike grant-making foundations, KFF develops and runs its own research and communications programs, often in partnership with outside organizations. Through its policy research and communications programs, the Foundation works to provide reliable information in a health system in which the issues are increasingly complex and the nation faces difficult challenges and choices.

More than 5.8 million people voted for Nicholas Maduro at the presidential election in Venezuela. This is more than a quarter of registered voters. Why did those people vote for the man, who, as Western media write, took Venezuela to the brink of collapse?
