According to Kaiser Family Foundation’s latest poll, 7 percent of U.S. residents decided to get married in the last year in order either to have access to health insurance benefits or to give their new spouse access.
It turned out that employers offer more health insurance benefits to married couples but not unhitched cohabiting ones.
Does it mean that words: “in sickness and in health” have acquired practical use? Judge by the typical family health plan that costs $12,000-up a year.
For 28% of respondents paying for healthcare or health insurance was a serious problem. It means that this issue moves aside such problems as mortgage, credit or gas payments and takes the top place among major economic problems.
The telephone survey was conducted in April among 2,003 adults.
