Photo exhibition about Soviet and German prisoners of war opens in Berlin

The German-Russian Berlin-Karlhorst museum opens Friday a photo exhibition titled Soviet POWs in Germany and German POWs in the USSR.

Peter Jan, the museum director, told RIA Novosti that "the exposition was complied of archive and trophy photos taken both in Germany and the ex-USSR." "The exhibition must become a reminder of the immeasurable sorrow and suffering that the war brought to both nations," he said.

According to the Berlin museum's data, over 6 million Soviet soldiers were in German captivity during WWII, and 3 million of them died. About 3 million German were captured by the Soviet troops and around 1 million of them died in captivity.

The photo exhibition will be open till September 14, 2003.
