New Hearings Of Raduyev's Case

Hearings of the case of Salman Raduyev and his accomplices have resumed in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan (Russia's republic on the Caspian coast). About 20 sufferers and witnesses were called to testimony on Monday. Police General-Lieutenant Valery Beyev, the former Dagestan Deputy Interior Minister, and several Dagestan policemen will give evidence on the events in Kizlyar and Pervomaiskoye village (the Khasavyurt district) in January 1996. Russian Prosecutor-General Vladimir Ustinov who has returned to Makhachkala after a week-end's working trip to Moscow supports the public prosecution.

On December 10, 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, its thirty articles enshrining basic and fundamental rights guaranteeing dignity of the human person and equality for all, regardless of race, color, creed or gender. A pipe dream?
