Man attempts to commit suicide near presidential reception, hospitalised in serious condition

Doctors say the man who attempted to commit a suicide near the presidential reception office in Ilyinka street on Friday is in serious condition.

The man is now in the general reanimation department with a head wound, the Sklifosovsky Research Institute of Emergency Care, which received the patient, said to RIA Novosti.

The incident happened at 16.00, Moscow time. The man of about 60-65 shot himself with a "home-made shooting device" at the entrance to the Russian President's reception office in Ilyinka street, but survived, the Moscow Interior Department told RIA Novosti.

The man is being identified at the moment and his motives are being established, said the Moscow Interior Department.
