UEFA EURO 2016: France v. Portugal in the final

After yesterday's game, in which Portugal beat Wales 2-0 tonight France and Germany played in Paris and the result was the same, in favor of the hosts. The hero of the night for France was Griezmann, the Atlético Madrid striker getting a penalty and a poke-in either side of half time.

Two tremendous mistakes by Germany, two goals from Griezmann, put France in the final and not Germany, the team which had more ball possession (65% to 35%), attacked more (17 shots to 15) and looked far more dangerous moving the ball around the park (639 passes to France's 297). Not always the better side wins.

In the previous encounters, Portugal won two and Wales won one of the three games. Tonight the first shot ob goal came from Portugal, João Mário firing wide on 16', after which Wales started to grow. Bale shot over on 18', shot at the keeper on 22' and on 25', King headed over.

A Cristiano Ronaldo shot corced a corner on 41' as Portugal began to press more, and on 44' Ronaldo headed over in front of goal, but without an angle of attack.

Half time, 0-0. Wales had more of the ball (52% to 48%) and a passing accuracy of 90% (against Portugal's 86) but Portugal had 5 shots to Wales' 3.

At the end of the first half the game looked as if it could go either way. Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani had other ideas. The first scored from a header after a corner kick on 49. Nani converted a pass from the right, left by Renato Sanches, three minutes later. Wales pressed but did not create any real danger for Ruoi Patrício's goalmouth.
