Two young men beat their roommate to death accusing him of child molestation

Two German men appeared in court Monday accused of killing a roommate they believed was a child abuser.

State prosecutors in Saxony-Anhalt said that Rene Naumann and Ricardo Nunez Jerez beat their 25-year-old roommate to death on Feb. 18 after accusing him of child abuse.

The 18-year-old men kicked and punched their victim repeatedly despite his protests of innocence, said prosecutors' spokeswoman Heike Kropf.

Investigators say one of the men told them the victim was "seriously tortured" before succumbing to his injuries.

Prosecutors say Naumann and Jerez stuffed their roommate's body in a garbage bin and abandoned it beside a country road.

The body was found 10 days later. Jerez and Naumann were arrested in March.
