The majority of French citizens support Russia's military actions in Syria, a survey conducted by IFOP company said, RIA Novosti reports.
When asked about Russia's military actions in Syria, only nine percent of French respondents said that they were unaware of that. As for the personal attitude to Russia's operations in Syria, only 12 percent of the French said that they did not support Russia. Eleven percent said that they did not care about the issue.
The study also revealed that the majority of the French do not support Turkey's move to shoot down a Russian Su-24 bomber in the skies over Syria. As many as 61 percent of the polled said that Turkey's act to down the Russian plane could not be justified.
The survey was conducted on December from 1 to 3 December 2015 among 1,211 French citizens over 18 years old. The statistical error does not exceed 3.1%.
Russia started striking the positions of the Islamic State (aka Daesh) in Syria on 30 September 2015 at the request of the President of the country Bashar al-Assad.
