Udugov Charged With Armed Revolt And 12 To 20 Years In Prison

Russian Public Prosecutors Office in cooperation with Turkish authorities is working on the issue of providing additional documents in connection with the so-called "extradition dossier" of Movlady Udugov, according to the Administration of Office of Public Prosecutor in the North Caucasus. One of the Chechen separatists' gurus is charged with armed revolt, clause 279 of the Criminal Code of Russian Federation, and is facing 12 to 20 years in prison. According to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Dagestan, a criminal investigation against him was already underway in March 2000. In the investigators' view, he was one of masterminds behind the Chechen gorillas' raid on Novolaksk Region of Dagestan in 1999. Currently Udugov is being searched for on a federal and international scale. It was the Turkish authorities which applied to Russia with a request to provide it with the so-called "extradition dossier". Over the last several years Udugov has been living abroad.
