Afghan veterans ask to revise negative assessment of war

The organization of Afghan war veterans urge the Russian authorities to revise a negative political assessment of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. The assessment was given in 1989.

This was announced by State Duma deputy Franz Klintsevich during a speech at a scientific-practical conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan. According to him, the appeal for the revision of assessments of the deployment of Soviet troops in Afghanistan will be sent to the Supreme Commander.

The 25th anniversary of the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan will be marked with the ceremony to lay flowers on Poklonnaya Gora war memorial in Moscow. A special exhibition dedicated to the war will be held at the Central Museum of the Great Patriotic War.
