Turkey deports Ukrainian feminists

The Turkish authorities deported four activists of the Ukrainian notorious movement Femen from the country. The activists of the feminist movement conducted their action of protest on the International Women's Day (on March 8) near the Cathedral of St. Sophia in Istanbul.

On Thursday, the women from Femen arrived in Istanbul at the invitation from a local firm, which manufactures underwear, Rosbalt reports. After a news conference, the activists stripped down to their waists and went out to the square in front of the cathedral. They started chanting the slogans condemning violence against women, Gazeta.ru reports.

Their bodies had been symbolically spray-painted to imitate acid burns, bruises and broken bones. The Ukrainians were arrested and taken to the police station.

Another Femen activist was detained for hooliganism in Moscow on March 4 at the polling station at the Russian Academy of Sciences. The woman had already been deported to Kiev.
