German alpinist who was lost when ascending to Khan-Tengri Peak found

Alpinist Georgy Heinz, a son of a staff worker of the German embassy to Kyrgyzstan, who was lost almost a week ago on Enelchek glacier after successfully ascending to the Khan-Tengri Peak, was found safe and sound.

The press service of the German embassy reported on Wednesday that Georgy Heinz was discovered by a group of military rescuers of a separate mobile-rescue brigade of the ministry of ecology and emergency situations of the republic.

On September 5, after ascending the peak Heinz did not return to the intermediate stopping place in the vicinity of lake Merzbacher in the planned time-limit. Specialists-rescuers of the firm, which organised the ascending, and his colleagues-alpinists immediately began searching for him. But in vain.

The German embassy in Kyrgyzstan asked the ministry of ecology and emergency situations of the republic to render assistance in the search for the lost alpinist.

It turned out that Heinz simply lost his way and could not find the intermediate camp.

This was not the first incident in the Kyrgyz mountains. On June 17 the German alpinist Werner Maul disappeared when he tried to ascend to the Lenin peak single-handed and was not found.
