The Russian Post is ready to reimburse the cost of iPhone 5, which was replaced with a handful of stones on the way from Moscow to Rostov-on-Don.
The woman, a Muscovite, who sent the parcel to Rostov-on-Don, had been trying to receive compensation from the Russian Post for months, but everything remains where it started. The woman eventually went to the Public Chamber to file a complaint against the Russian Post. Surpringly, the complaint reached the Minister for Communications and of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Nikiforov.
The Russian Post agreed to reimburse the cost of the expensive phone and pay 30,000 rubles ($1,000) to the woman, RBC reports. The woman indicated the amount and the detailed description of the phone on the package.
The woman sent the parcel from Moscow on July 5. Eight days later, the recipient received a box of stones instead of the phone. In the presence of post office employees, an official act "About the damage, shortage and incorrect weight of EMS shipments" was drawn up. The application for reimbursement was written and sent to the email address of EMS Russian Post on July 17, 2013.
Four months later, no action was taken whatsoever. Therefore, a member of the Public Chamber, Vladimir Slepak, asked the minister of the department, who was curating the work of the Russian Post, to personally monitor the situation.
The minister did not respond to the complaint, but the administration of the Russian Post responded to media reports, and it was decided to reimburse the cost of the package with the sender. The Russian Post also promised to carry out an immediate official investigation to find and punish the perpetrators.
