Vladimir Putin has sent birthday greetings to Academician Zhores Alferov, a Nobel Prize laureate and director of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Institute of Physics and Engineering.
Among other things, according to the President's press service, the greeting message says: "You are one of those brilliant and talented scientists who succeed in putting the results of their research and invention to best use in practice. You have set up an internationally renowned school of scientists and nurtured many disciples who are successfully developing your cause".
Russian President has also congratulated artist Boris Messerer on his 70th birthday. In his greeting telegram Vladimir Putin says: "An artist of great originality and talent, you have by rights been recognised as an unsurpassed master of stage scenery and exhibition design. Your works are invariably marked by true artistry and creative innovation".
Vladimir Putin has sent a greeting message to Leonid Ilyin, a full member of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and director of the state research centre at the Institute of Biophysics under the Health Ministry of the Russian Federation. The President congratulated the Academician on his 75th birthday and, among other things, wrote: "You have devoted your scientific career to developing the radiation medicine, one of the most vital areas of healthcare and medical science. Thousands of human lives saved thanks to your unique research and treatment methods are the best credit to your noble work".
