Guidelines for the development of the Russian Space Forces in 2002 and results of meeting the goals set for 2001 were considered on Thursday at an expanded sitting of the military council of the Space Forces, RIA Novosti was told by their press service. Their commander Colonel-General Anatoli Perminov formulated priority goals for 2002 and voiced confidence that everything will be done "for meeting them in full measure, set timeframe and with the required quality indicators". Summing up the results of training in 2001, Perminov stressed that "the Space Forces are ready for unfailing fulfilment of the goals set". According to the general, this year duty shifts of the main center for testing and control of the space means have held over 157,000 communication sessions and ensured the launch of 18 carrier rockets. The sitting of the military council was attended by representatives of the Russian Defense Ministry, Space Forces command, commanders of large units, cosmodromes and higher educational establishments, unit commanders and their deputies. The military council of the Space Forces has been gathered in such an expanded format for the first time since its formation in March 2001.
