Moscow Mayor meets his Astana counterpart

Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov met his Astana counterpart Adilbek Dzhaksybekov as part of the Days of culture of the new Kazakh capital in Moscow, which have been held since May 14th. Moscow will host 10 major cultural events. For instance, a stone of the future sculptural composition "A Symbol of Friendship of Moscow and Astana" was laid on Thursday morning. The Kazakh branch of the Lomonosov Moscow State University was opened in Astana and a land plot was granted for the construction of the Moskva trade centre on the left bank of the Ishim river as part of the agreement between the Moscow and Astana governments on cooperation in trade and economic, scientific-technical and humanitarian spheres, signed in 2000.
