Conference "30 Years With UNEP: Results and Prospects" opens in Moscow

A two-day international conference called "Thirty Years with UNEP: Results and Prospects" opens in Moscow on Monday. The main organiser is the Russian ministry of natural resources.

According to a source in the ministry, the United Nations Environmental Program, or the UNEP, is one of the most effective mechanisms of global and regional nature-conservative cooperation. The 30th anniversary of the program, which is celebrated this year, provides ground for analysis of existing cooperation between Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States on the one hand and the UNEP on the other, said the source.

The purpose of the conference is to discuss the results of cooperation and define common approaches to the development of international nature-conservative cooperation between the CIS and the UNEP.
