Kelis Gives Birth to Baby Boy

The "Milkshake" singer gave birth to son Knight Jones around 9 p.m. Wednesday in New York City. The baby weighed in at 7 lbs., 8 oz.

Kelis, 29, delivered naturally with her mother and sister by her side after about 31 hours of labor, according to her rep. "The beautiful baby boy and his mother are doing wonderful," she said in a statement, People Magazine reports.

In a video posted online Wednesday, proud papa Nas spilled the first details of the birth. "My son is born today, so shout-out to my son, Knight," the rapper says in a clip, which is stamped with Tuesday's date. "My son's name is Knight. That's what I named the young God, Knight," Nas tells fans in the clip. "Y'all heard it first. Don't believe nothing you hear in the media. I love y'all. Don't listen to that bullsh--. I love y'all, that's why I'm here," MTV.com reports.

This is the first child for the singer, and the second for ex-husband Nas, who also has a 15-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, NBC Dallas-Fort Worth reports.

The couple announced the pregnancy back in January. Two weeks later and after five years of a seemingly happy marriage, Kelis filed for divorce. They have been arguing over finances and other problems ever since.

The two of them were due in for a divorce hearing on Tuesday, writes NME.com, but it had to be postponed for obvious reasons.

The problems between Nas and Kelis continue with Nas’s attempt to get into the hospital room where Kelis was giving birth while he was drunk. According to TMZ.com, the Queens-based rapper had been at a performance that night where he had informed the crowd that he was “hammered off champagne.” When he showed up at the hospital in this state, they refused him entry into the birthing room.

Furthermore, it appears that Kelis’s hospital bill has not been paid, and it is unclear who will be stuck with the expenses since the divorce has yet to be finalized, TheCelebrityCafe.com reports.
