Afghanistan Notes Instances Of Apartment Houses Being Damaged By Packages With American Humanitarian Aid

On Saturday the Los Angeles Times newspaper reported that from the beginning of the military operation in Afghanistan American aircraft dropped more than 1.8 million packages with canned products and other humanitarian aid on the territory of Afghanistan, part of packages having hit apartment houses. According to the newspaper, near the city of Herat one of such packages went through the roof of the local farmer's house at the moment when the family was asleep. The family consists of seven children. Fortunately, everybody stayed alive but the humanitarian aid which literally fell down from the sky on their heads left some bruises on the bodies of the owner of the house, his wife and their elder son. The US Department of Defense informed the newspaper that American pilots were trying to drop packages as precisely as possible. Though the Department admitted that such method of humanitarian aid delivery "had its imperfections." That's why the emphasis will soon be shifted towards transportation of humanitarian aid by ground convoys.
