Work On Kursk Reactor To Begin On Friday

Opening of the sixth reactor section of the Kursk nuclear submarine is scheduled for Friday, the RIA Novosti correspondent quotes Russian naval chief Vladimir Kuroedov as saying to reporters. To Kuroedov, after the drilling of holes in the sixth sector no water was discovered there. Air samples showed that the radiation background is normal, 6 microroentgen/hour. Water from the biological-protection tank has been pumped off and it has been filled with vapour, which is heating the sector. After the reactor is heated, it will be unlatched and specialists will get inside. They will put the reactor in a safe condition.
