The Establishment Of Unified Centrist Party Will Change Russia For The Better

The establishment of a unified centrist party will help change the whole of Russia for the better, the leader of the Unity Party and Minister for Emergency Situations, Sergei Shoigu, said in his report to the party's congress, which opened in Moscow on Saturday. Shoigu emphasised that, by establishing a political party together with the Fatherland and All Russia movements, Unity is making a breakthrough and turning into a modern progressive and potentially very powerful political organisation which will be able to unite the whole of the Russian society around it. The Unity leader said the unification of centrists will help "form a new party-and-political landscape in the country, and this new political structure will decide the situation at the future parliamentary elections." "If we do not unite today, we are bound to lose tomorrow," Shoigu emphasised. He said the realities of the 21st century cause Unity to make a resolute step towards all political forces and rally them around it. "Unity must become the centre of the formation of the new party," he said. "This party can and must form a parliamentary majority at the next elections."

On December 10, 1948 the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, its thirty articles enshrining basic and fundamental rights guaranteeing dignity of the human person and equality for all, regardless of race, color, creed or gender. A pipe dream?
