Russian Foreign Minister Ivanov Sends Message Of Greetings To Participants In Intersputnik Session

Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov has sent a message of greetings to participants in a session of the International Organisation of Space Communications (Intersputnik), congratulating them on the organisation's 30th anniversary. A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Department of Information and the Press quoted the message as saying that Intersputnik makes a constructive contribution to international cooperation. This international organisation has a weighty say in the U.N. Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, the International Telecommunication Union and other international and regional organisations. The initiatives put forward by Intersputnik at the Third U.N. Conference on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (Unispace III) in 1999 evoked a positive response, the minister said in his message. At present, Intersputnik ranks high among the leading international satellite communication organisations, the message said.
