International UNESCO Forum Closes in Novgorod the Great

An international UNESCO forum entitled The Role of the Young in Preserving World Heritage just closed in the city of Novgorod the Great. Its participants came from 13 countries, including, among others, Germany, Great Britain, France, and Finland.

According to the press centre of the administration of the Novgorod Region, the objective of the forum was the creation of conditions for involving the young in studying, preserving, and popularizing the world's cultural and natural heritage and using it for establishing communication between various cultures of the world and developing contacts between young people in various countries.

While the forum continued, various events were held under its auspices, including a youth festival, excursions and sightseeing in the city, participation in archeological digs and restoring ancient artifacts, roundtables, ART BOOK youth exhibition, master classes in applied creativity, etc.

Kim Inn Yong, a staff member of the UNESCO Paris headquarters, said she hoped the forum would open ways to understanding between cultures and its ideas would find their realisation. The organisers of the forum said the documents containing the suggestions of participants would be completed within a fortnight and sent for approval to the Moscow UNESCO office.
