Russian Beauty To Vie For Miss Europe-2001 Title In Beirut

On Saturday a Russian beauty and 49 other beautiful girls from European countries will vie for the Miss Europe-2001 title in Beirut. Girls from practically all countries of Europe have come to the Lebanese capital to participate in the prestigious beauty contest. Only Great Britain refused to take part in it, motivating its decision by the tragic events in New York and Washington in September 2001. Russian challenger for the Miss Europe-2001 title, Oksana Kalandyrets, comes from the Siberian city of Surgut. She is an only child in her family. In several days, on January 1, 2002, she will turn 21. Oksana is a third-year student of Moscow Humanitarian University and wants to take up business of her own upon graduation. The beauty from Surgut goes in for equestrianism. She knows English. Oksana has already participated in the competitions of models in Egypt and Lebanon. She dreams of travelling all over the world. In her food she prefers Russian cuisine. She likes classical music and Pushkin's poems. At the age of 15 Oksana won the title of Miss Surgut-96 and in 2001 became Vice-Miss of Russia. At the Miss Universe-2001 beauty pageant in Puerto-Rico Oksana Kalandyrets featured among the top ten finalists. The contest for the Miss Europe-1999 title was also held in Beirut. Russian beauty Yelena Rogozhina from Samara, 18, emerged victorious in it.
