Trial Against Chechen Terrorist Raduyev In Makhachkala

Hearings of Chechen terrorist Salman Raduyev's case continue in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan (a republic on the western Caspian shore, the Russian Federation). Opening the court session, the presiding justice announced that 19 witnesses and sufferers will be heard on Friday. Journalist Alexander Merkulov was the first to give evidence. According to him, Raduyev really threatened with terrorist acts in the North Caucasus and in Russian cities, in particular, with an explosion at the Voronezh nuclear power plant. Merkulov said that he had twice interviewed Raduyev in 1997 and 1998. Then the terrorist told the journalist about his plans to commit terrorist acts in Russia if the Russian troops were not withdrawn from Chechnya. Raduyev's detachment included 20 Ukrainian nationalists, the journalist added.
