Russian Schools Full of WWII Bombs

A washerwoman found a German 81-millimeter large mine of WWII in a corridor of the Novgorod-based "Eureka" school. The mine was found in the evening, when there was nobody but the personnel in the building. A rescue team took the mine out of the city and destroyed it.

Vladimir Afanasyev, the director of the school, explained that the former manager of the school museum was guilty of the incident. He did not warn the school's administration of having a mine in the museum. The new museum manager was not aware of that either. As a result, they took the box with the mine out of the room, and a washerwoman found it there later on. However, the mine was not dangerous, for it did not have a fuse.

Russia's Ministry for Foreign Affairs is seriously concerned about the state of health of former Russian intelligence officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia. Sergei Skrypal's niece, Victoria Skripal, said that her uncle had already died.
