The police of Vietnam arrested 12 people suspected of two frauds at once: a seller sold fake metal and his clients paid fake money for the purchase.
According to the local press, a Vietnamese from a southern province of the country painted a piece of iron with cow grease and black paint to make it look like black bronze and sold it for a higher price. The man offered the piece of fake bronze to businessmen from Ho Shi Min for one billion of dongs (about $64,000).
The businessmen liked the price, because the market price of the metal used in jewelry production made up about $1 million. However, the businessmen decided to outwit the seller: they bought a printer and made about 900 million of fake dongs especially to pay for the metal.
The rest of the detained are accomplices of forgery of the metal. The crime was solved when one of the swindlers paid the fake money at a department store.
