Lithuania to legalize prostitution and home-brewing

Lithuanian President expressed his opinion for the legalization of prostitution and the home-brew production in the country. Answering the questions from TV viewers live on the air of the Lithuanian LNK channel, Valdas Adamkus mentioned that the parliament would have to give the final answer to the issue of legal prostitution. He added, any kind of restrictions were not going to help.

“Prostitution is more of a social and moral issue. It may seem very painful and horrible to some people. We will not find the answer that is going to be good for everyone in this respect,” – said the president and added, he would not ban the prostitution.

As far as the legalization of the home-brewing is concerned, Adamkus assured the Lithuanian home-made alcohol beverages were not worse than the Irish ones, which were legalized. The president does not think it is bad - to make the alcohol drinks at home. The president confessed he had tried to drink the home-made alcohol and violated the law that way since the prostitution and home-brewing were banned in Lithuania.
