Young Man Cheats People with Cell Phone Confessions

Police officers of the Moscow department for struggle with organized crime have recently had a rather unusual incident in their practice. A 23-year-old Muscovite managed to cheat people and get money from them with the help of a cellular phone.

The young man would dial various numbers at random, talk to the people that he did not know at all and win their confidence. After that, he would pretend their relative and say that he had a car accident. The man would urgently ask some money to "settle the situation" with police officers – from $100 to $400. Eventually, the young man would then send "a friend of his," also a 23-year-old Muscovite, to get the money.

The last victim of the cell phone fraudster was a female resident of Moscow, who believed that she was talking to her son. The woman's husband suspected something weird, because he knew that their son, a circus actor, was on tour in Minks, Belarus.

The fraudster was detained, when he came to receive the money. The young man confessed that he cheated people on six occasions in June. The man has had previous convictions before for stealing cars. The Moscow Internal Affairs investigation department instituted criminal proceedings.
