A fan of ice-fishing from the city of Orenburg caught a giant pike in a local river. The fisherman had to ask his fellows for help to take the fish out of water. Several fishermen had to enlarge the hole in the ice to take the fish out. They were amazed to see the size and the mass of the giant pike: the fish weighed 12 kilos. The giant fish delivered three liters of spawn, Itar-Tass reports.
The splendid fishing took place on the Ural River. Fisherman Alexander Uvarov said that he had been fond of ice-fishing for more than 20 years. However, it was the first time, when he caught such a giant pike, said he.
The fisherman found two rusty spoons in the mouth of the fish. Alexander Uvarov was surprised to know that the predatory fish had not cut the 0.3-millimeter fishing-line with its razor-sharp teeth.
Russian fishermen are not alone when it comes to the happy fishing. A German fisherman caught a 2.15-meter sheatfish last summer. The fish weighed 54 kilos. It took the lucky fisherman more than 30 minutes to pull the giant fish out of the river. The fish was apparently 20 years old. The largest sheatfish was caught in 1996 - it was a 2.27-meter, 60-kilo giant.
