A scandal is spurring up in Spain, after Spanish reporters managed to find out curious details about the entertainment of Spanish top officials in Moscow. The newspaper Diario de Mallorca wrote, president of the Balearic autonomous community, which includes islands Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera, visited Moscow in February of the current year. The president had enough time to discuss official issues and enjoy himself in Rasputin night club with a company of naked girls.
The Spanish delegation spent three days in Moscow. The delegates held several business meetings with Moscow officials and spokespeople for tourist business. They also watched the football game between Real (Mallorca) and Spartak (Moscow).
When the business part of the visit was over, Spanish guests decided to visit several night clubs in Moscow. Juame Matas, four other Spanish politicians, a security guard and an interpreter went to strip bar Rasputin. Explicit details of their night entertainment in Moscow would not have appeared in Spanish newspapers, if officials had thought of another way to explain their expenses.
In the financial report about the trip to Moscow they included tickets to an 'erotic theatre.' Spanish guests paid 129 euros for tickets, although they indicated them as 'taxi expenses.'
Someone at the accounting department translated 'taxi receipts' from Russian into Spanish. The newspaper published the translations in its sensational article later. Diario de Mallorca also reported Spanish tax payers had spent almost 16,000 euros in three days of officials' stay in Moscow.
To add more fuel to the fire, Spanish reporters found explicit photographs on Rasputin's website. Photographs depict 'actresses of the erotic theatre,' – clients may choose, which 'actress' they want to know better.
Rasputin is an elite night club in Moscow. Cocktails carrying such titles as Sex Machine, Strawberry Orgasm, cost up to $200 there. After a glass of cocktail clients are offered a more active entertainment. It costs $50 to have fun with a naked girl. It is also possible to enjoy a foamy bath with an 'actress,' VIP services cost $200.
Indignant Spaniards posted many messages on Rasputin's website. The guestbook of the site was filled with messages in Spanish, insulting the Balearic president. Furthermore, Diario de Mallorca found Andrey Ilyakov, the interpreter of the Spanish delegation in Moscow. Ilyakov told reporters Matas and his team were always together, Rasputin was not an exception.
One of the delegates - director of the Institute of Tourism Joan Carles Alia - retired from his position soon after the sensational material appeared in the Spanish press. He said they visited Rasputin without the president. However, deputies of the local parliament responded Alia was simply trying to save Matas from shame. Juame Matas was rather brief with his answer. When Alia resigned, the Balearic president stated "there was nothing left to talk about."
Spanish deputies want to make Jaume Matas and other members of the official delegation present a report about their Moscow stay to the parliament.
