Sexy Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova to become a desperate housewife

Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova is expected to appear in a popular American TV series. The Wimbledon winner told of her "soap opera plans" during the party, which was devoted to the tennis player's 18th birthday.

"Desperate Housewives" series has proved to be a successful entertainment program on ABC. The series tells of severe days of five women, living in an American suburban town, the Komsomolskaya Pravda newspaper wrote.

The biggest star of "Desperate Housewives" is the 40-year-old actress Teri Hatcher, who is known for her role in James Bond film "Tomorrow Never Dies." The actress's age has apparently pushed the television series producers to the idea to rejuvenate the cast.

Maria's busy schedule in her main occupation did not let the girl become the central candidate for one of the starring roles in "Desperate Housewives." The sexy Russian tennis star is to appear in the series only in a couple of episodes as a special guest.
