The English Patient

A demolition mob, an ambulance crew, a complete fire crew and a fork-lift truck had to be called in to take an overweight English patient to hospital.

At 356 kilogrammes, Paul Mason was seriously overweight, so much so that he would not fit through his own front door. Finally, his body gave way and suffering from a hernia, an ambulance was called to take him to hospital for his operation. The two-man ambulance crew was 8unable to move him, so they called a fire engine with a full complement of six firemen.

These, also unable to budge the modern-day Goliath, called in a special unit to demolish the front wall of the house and to knock down a neighbour’s wall so that a fork-lift truck could be used to hoist the mountainous Mason through his masonry.
