Did You Ever Get a One-kilometer Birthday Card?

India Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee celebrates his 78th birthday next week; it is expected that the prime minister will get a birthday greeting card which is one kilometer long.

Over one thousand of Vajpayee supporters made a greeting card of one kilometer in length; it contains drawings and pictures representing different moments from the prime-minister’s life. As is know, Atal Bihari Vajpayee is also a famous poet.

The greeting card was made of 1470 sheets of paper in Vajpayee’s electoral district in Luknow, the state of Uttar Pradesh. It also contains Vajpayee’s verses and warm wishes written by his supporters.

“Our objective is to present the prime minister with something special that would suit his personality and at the same time reflect our deep feelings toward him,” the Indian people say. It took the Lucknow citizens 18 months to make the greeting card; 750 pens and 200 bottles of indelible ink were spent for the work.

Vajpayee’s political career lasted for more than 50 years; within this whole period the prime minister never came off second-best in the electoral constituency of Lucknow.
