Former England striker fined 200 Australian dollars

Former England soccer international Stan Collymore was fined 200 Australian dollars (US$148, Ђ124) by a north Queensland state court following an incident involving police at a nightclub last weekend.

Collymore, 34, pleaded guilty late Thursday in the Cairns Magistrates Court to a charge of resisting a police move-on order.

The former striker was arrested outside The Woolshed nightclub in Cairns after he was thrown out following scuffles with other patrons.

Collymore represented himself in court. No conviction was recorded. Last year, Collymore admitted going to remote parking lots to watch or engage in sex with strangers in cars. He was dropped as a BBC radio soccer commentator.

Also last year, Collymore, who is black, said he was beaten up by six rugby union players after one of them racially abused him at a night club in Dublin, Ireland.

Collymore said he sustained a broken nose, bruised ribs and a suspected elbow fracture in the fight with a group of Bath players.

In 2000, Collymore, while playing for English side Leicester City, set off a fire extinguisher in a piano bar in Spain during a midseason training camp.

Collymore also played for Spanish side Real Oviedo and English sides Nottingham Forest, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Southend, AP reports.
