Marat Safin from Russia wins in Paris but remains in third place in atp rating list

In spite of his victory in the representative tournament of the Masters series which ended in Paris the day before, Marat Safin from Russia remains in third place in the new rating list of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).

This notwithstanding, Safin cut his lag behind second place in which American Andre Agassi has been for a long time to 110 points. The famed U.S. tennis player boasts 679 points.

Australian Lleyton Hewitt retains the lead in the champions' race, though he lost to Marat Safin in the finals of the Paris tournament on Sunday.

The list of the 100 ATP best players includes, alongside Marat Safin, also three other Russian players. Yevgeny Kafelnikoiv improved his standing by one point and is now ranking 27th with 238 points. Mikhail Yuzhny is in 32nd place (199 points), like a week ago. Nikolai Davidenko also went up by one line, being 89th in the list with 65 points at the moment.
