The Velvet Season 9th international TV and film festival, established in Russia and popular in the CIS, the Baltic States and Eastern Europe, moved to Yalta. The festival will last till August 13.
The participants in this prestigious forum, leading cinema, theatrical and TV figures from 14 countries, crossed the Russian-Ukrainian border on board the motor ship and arrived in Yalta from Rostov-on-Don, where the festival started.
They are to present 165 TV programmes, films and advertising projects to the international jury and spectators.
The jury will name winners in two categories - the Best Patriotic TV Programme and the Hope of Television.
Meetings between leading directors, actors and spectators will be held on Yalta embankment and on board the Taras Shevchenko motor ship, which has become a hotel for actors, a creative centre and a concert hall.
According to famous directors David Cherkassky, Yevgeny Ginzburg and Svyatoskav Belza, the main problem of the Russian and Ukrainian television is "the lack of the good" on TV screens and the lack of knowledge of demands of the audience.
"We shouldn't think about out own profit or TV rating, but about the audience, first of all," Ginzburg told a press conference in Yalta.
